FAQ’s

To help you find the answer to many frequently asked questions, please read the following questions and answers:

Q. Why do I need to make an appointment?

A. You must, we are always very busy and it’s vital a co-ordinator is available and we have enough changing facilities. We have a reputation of never letting anybody down and we can only do so if we carefully monitor daily through-put. With hundreds of outfits being dry-cleaned, tailored and assembled existing orders and appointments must take priority.

Q. Will the clothes fit better than I’ve experienced when I’ve hired from other Hire Shops?

A. Yes, the clothes will fit as if they had been tailored just for you because you can try on the very garments you will wear on the day. We then make any necessary adjustments to make sure they fit perfectly. Not everybody is short, regular or long being offered in most hire shops and in some shops perhaps just regular fitting are available.

Q. Can you assure me the clothes have been dry-cleaned after the previous wearer?

A. We are one of the only hire businesses that have “in house” dry-cleaning, spotting and laundry facilities. Just steaming garments when they are returned fails to remove personal soiling such as sweat and deodorants.

~~~~~~~~~~
Q. Can I try on the garments to see how I look before making a booking?
A. Yes, because we keep the majority of our garments in stock you can try everything on in every combination of size, style and colour.
~~~~~~~~~~

Q. Because you offer much more than your competitors are you more expensive?

A. We are never under-sold. The superior quality of our garments is far better than the majority of hire shops but if you find the same quality, service and finished product cheaper; we’ll match it.

Q. How easy is it to come and be fitted, pick up and return my hire. I’m fed up with multi-store car parks, negotiating Shopping Malls, pedestrian only streets and the like?

A. You can park right outside within yards of our door, FREE on the street or there are a 100 parking spaces right behind our premises. If you do have to pay we will refund on your purchase.

~~~~~~~~~~
Q. Are you easy to find?
A. If you have a sat nav just enter our post code (GU34 1HT), that’s all. When it says “you have reached your destination” you will see the Bartlett & Butcher sign. We are opposite the Alton Library so make for the “Community Centre” or “Bank” car park.
~~~~~~~~~~

Q. Can you deliver and/or collect my hire outfits if I’m too busy to bring them back?

A. Yes, up to ten miles from Alton we charge £10 for the first outfit and £1 for every outfit thereafter. We have arrangements with many hotels and ceremony centres.

~~~~~~~~~~
Q. Do you open on weekends or late one evening?
A. Yes, we do but only by appointment and if we are unable to see you during normal opening hours which are 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday through to Saturday.
~~~~~~~~~~

Q. How quickly can you fit me out if I have a last minute invite to Royal Ascot?

A. About 30 minutes. Because our garments are uniquely coded it enables our computerised stock management system to allocate 24/7 and find the correct garment for the specific days you required. We have total control of our comprehensive stock and our main warehouse is only 30 minute away if a garment is temporarily out of stock.
